What’s New: November 2010 Movie Releases
There are nine movies opening this week. I remember when there were nine opening in a month! – Arthur Abbott, The Holiday
I am an avid movie-goer. Um and I always tried to catch the ones that catch our interest. Sometimes we even went to the theaters more than we should because of the thousands of family movies that are released in this day and age. We could not keep up! This, of course, came into an indefinite halt when I came here to the States because I have no one to watch them with (although, I will go and watch a movie alone just for the heck of it one of these days). I do not even know anymore how many good ones I have missed the last 10 months. I gained a movie date when Captain Awesome arrived in June. But, of course, our choices were limited.
Because there are a million movie releases for the month of November, I am only giving you a rundown on the ones that I think I would like to see:
1. Due Date – Yeah, yeah. It is one of those movies a la Hangover or Pineapple Express that are full of brain farts, but promise good laughs. I must admit, I do not know where the story revolves, but it had me at “starring Robert Downey, Jr.”
2. 127 Hours – This is a story of a hiker who was trapped in a boulder for 127 hours and had to amputate his own arm, I believe, in order to get out alive. The film stars James Franco and is directed by Danny Boyle. With a director who came up with such brilliance as Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire, how can this not interest you?
3. Megamind – Captain Awesome and I have been waiting for this for months! The long wait is over as it comes out today. I am actually getting tired of Will Ferrell’s comedy. I think it is because I feel like he is getting too old for the Saturday Night Live kind of comedy he brings to the table, but being an animated character might just be what I need to be reminded of his Old School days.

4. Unstoppable – I have not seen a Denzel Washington movie in a while. I wonder if he still has the it factor.
5. Tangled – This makes for a great “chick flick” date with my Little HRH. My little big boy seems to be uninterested and says it is for girls. Maybe he and his Dad can just go and play billiards while we watch.
6. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 – It is the beginning of the end! Although, I read a tweet once that said J.K. Rowling is considering adding more to the series. I kind of think it would be an overkill. Nonetheless, the big HP fan in me cannot help but be curious. Exciting!
7. Burlesque – Film. Music. What more can you ask for? Many people would assume it is the kind of movie I would watch with my sister or my girlfriends because of its, err, “nature”, but this is something my music lover of a husband would want to see. Remember Chicago? Yeah, he took me to see it even without me asking.
8. Love and Other Drugs – Jake Gyllenhal. Enough said.
Oh…and I got two free tickets to the cinema, too!!!
