Wanderlusting for Resorts
Yesterday, I was watching House Hunters International and a lady was buying a property in St. Thomas. One of the things on her list was of course, a gorgeous view of the Atlantic Ocean or the Caribbean Sea. Ms C is really more the beach person between the two of us, but I must say, it’s been over a year since my last beach trip, which was in Boracay. That was nice and all, but getting yet another glimpse of the Caribbean makes me think that our next trip must not be a sight-seeing-heavy-with-historic-buildings-thus-astronomical-amounts-of-walking one.
What I am looking into, which I still have to check with Chef of course, is a more idyllic vacation. Like probably most of you, I subscribe to numerous amounts of travel emails – beaches, cities, cruises, safaris, and everything in between. One caught my attention simply because I’ve never paid attention to them before – an all inclusive holiday. I know a couple of people who have taken them, and they’ve all enjoyed it because once you pay for it, you pretty much do not think about expenses anymore. I guess it’s like a cruise, which I’m normally not into because you’re bound to the ship’s schedule. For all inclusive resorts, well, you don’t need to follow a schedule because you’re pretty much in one place.

Oh, I guess that’s one other clincher that Chef and I normally do not do, stay in one place. But I guess that’s the point right. Stay in a resort that has everything anyway so you don’t need to look for other places to go to. Most of my friends have been to all inclusive resorts in Mexico. Randomly a week ago, Chef mentioned we should also go to Cancun one of these days. I hear there’s a lot of all inclusive resorts there. Drinks, activities, food… all unlimited, all unstoppable. My skepticism of this would be the quality of the experience but I guess that will pretty much depend on the place. Go to a reputable one, and it could be that trip that you really have nothing else to think about other than relaxing. Who knows what could be in so-so resorts.
Anyway, Caribbean, Mediterranean, or probably even Pacific, I’m sure there’s an all inclusive holiday out there that’s waiting for me to try. I just must get over my “I want to drink the history” mentality in choosing a destination. I wouldn’t mind drinking history in a good serving of margaritas.
