Wanderlust: La Mesa Ecopark
Spring break has come and gone. The week went by so fast. Yep…just one week. I wonder if it is like that in all schools – even colleges – here in the States. It reminds me of my super short term breaks at De La Salle and how my friends from other universities (who usually got two or more weeks off) felt sorry for me.
Oh, how I wish Captain Awesome, Little HRH and I had had the opportunity to do some more cavorting. Like sit on nice and comfy Adirondack chairs and bask under the sun whilst sipping fruity cocktails – lemonade or iced tea for the kids, of course.
And now, I suddenly missed the impromptu day trips we used to take with Um’s family.
One of the things that I am reminiscing right now is that day we went to the La Mesa Ecopark. It was not as developed as it is now, but clean enough to host families for picnics and bike rides. Back then, though, visitors were to bring their own picnic tables and chairs. If I am not mistaken, since it had just opened, fees were very minimal for the maintenance for the park. It was yet another low-budget quick getaway with the family that we truly enjoyed.
Right now, though, La Mesa Ecopark is one of the best places in Metro Manila offering an escapade fix. It has also become a favorite field trip destination of schools, and it is not hard to imagine why. It has already been developed to have the site furnishings that can host a whole bunch of outdoor activities. There are boat rides, mountain bike trails and two hectares of flower terraces, to name some. And for those who want to opt out on the action and just breathe in some fresh air, there are park benches all over the place. You just have to pick your perfect spot!
