Twenty-One Days
Today, I will write about a sensitive topic: weight.
It has been a little more than three weeks since I quit smoking. I guess, that means that I have officially broken free from one of my favorite pastimes.
You know what they say, it takes 21 days to make (or break) a habit. Trust me on this. Psychologists have proven it. And you’ll find a lot of sources online to support it. So, if you wish to start a new hobby, change your attitude or whatnot, it takes 21 days for it to become “normal” and a natural part of you.
Part of my withdrawal process after quitting smoking is that I am constantly hungry. Or I just think I am. It’s the need to always have something touch your mouth. So, I have been munching on snacks meals. Anything I can get my hands on.
I feel like I’ve eaten an entire elephant. I’m not huge, but I’m bigger than my usual weight.
small bones + scoliosis + inappropriate weight gain = pain, pain, pain.
As I write, I’m munching on this snack that claims to be healthy.
It’s obviously not. Please, please, please recommend healthy snacks for me (preferably something that I can easily prepare). I wish Café Munchkin lives with me. LOL
I have got to get into a very effective fitness program. I should do this exercise video regularly again…21 days. That’s all it takes to get into it.
Hoping to get favorable results before the summer falls in the US.

Ever since Little J was born I quit drinking soda in (every) meal, til eventually I was soda free for a month. Now i don’t crave for it, but drink half a glass just to satisfy me at times. Better than to my soda habit before. Yay to you!
As for healthy snacks, I have yet to learn that, but I’ve replaced chocolate chip cookies (Chips Ahoy as such) for Oatmeal cookies & only eat choco chips on cheat days (weekends)
That is discipline! I can’t give up chocolate chip cookie!! And I’m not really even trying to give it up LOL!!
bacon!!!
my oh my, that is one reason why i gained and it was at that time too that i quit belly dancing. go ms. c, calorie in and out nalang muna ang drama mo err natin pala
oh i can’t give up bacon too!
Congratulations on successfully giving up smoking! 21 days. No wonder hubby and I are no longer craving red meat (pork and beef). For the entire duration of lent, we gave up meat. After Lent, it was easy for us to just limit red meat to just 1 serving a week. We still eat chicken and turkey.
As for healthy snacks, always make sure you have your favorite fruits in the fridge/kitchen. There are also 100 calorie packs of healthy snacks that you can buy at the grocery. Just make sure you eat them a pack at a time. Hee hee.
@girlie: yes! trying, though. so far, mas maraming calorie in than out
i want to go belly dancing, too!!! and hopefully possess a shakira-like body!
@chiniebeenie: bacon is more than just comfort food. it’s sanity and love full of fat. LOL
@munchkin mommy: thanks! yup, 21 days
that’s how short we need to program our brains for something. congratulations on the red meat. you must really have a healthy household! i’d like to try that, too. maybe when my dear husband um is already here. i’ll look into those 100-calorie snacks. thanks for the tip!!

thanks!!! i read that pistachio nuts are not so good for the heart, though.
