Taste Buds: Turkey Burger with Gorgonzola Cheese on Focaccia Bread

This was a huge sandwich, but it’s okay because other than the focaccia bread, all the ingredients are pretty light.

I think I mentioned on my panini post that we love paninis during the summer. It’s been hot lately, so we have been moving towards the sandwich direction.

This was so easy to make. Although my role in the kitchen in the preparation of this meal was more of a dishwasher than anything else, I’m proud of this dish for Chef because as he was preparing it, the aroma was just so prominent of its ingredients, and every bite was a delight.

The burger is made of mostly of ground turkey. To satisfy the meat lover in me, Chef added bits of ham and chicken sausage. Other ingredients include bell pepper, onions, mushrooms, spiced with thyme, rosemary, and oregano, with salt and pepper. To put them all together so that it can be a burger are breadcrumbs, flour and an egg. Then, you just get down and dirty mixing everything in. Shape that beautiful thing in whatever burger shape you want and just throw it on the grill pan. Ah, simply fabulous. This piece was topped with tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese, avocado, artichokes and cilantro, squished between herbed focaccia bread.

It certainly was a huge dinner that my mouth was certainly not wide enough to get a full bite – of course I complained because Remy from Ratatouille oh so desires, I wanted all the flavors to explode in my mouth. I was able to successfully do so, and again, it was to die for! :)
