Music and Lyrics: Crush by Dave Matthews Band
A year ago from today, Chef and I tied the knot in Caleruega, a quaint chapel on top of the hill in Tagaytay, Philippines. This was 4 months after our civil wedding in San Francisco. Ms C helped me plan the wedding while she was in Manila part of the time and I was in the States. It was grueling but nonetheless amazing, all for one day. Our wedding videographer was Jason Magbanua, one of the premier videographers in the country, and I believe he’s one of the best in the world. I was told he used to direct music videos, which is why his onsite videos are to die for. Indeed they were. Now I had to pick a song.
There was no doubt in my mind that it would be a DMB song. I’ve been a fan since my brother introduced me to the band over 10 years ago. I have all their songs in iTunes. I wanted to learn how to play the saxophone because of songs like Ants Marching and Wasting Time. I was devastated when LeRoi Moore died 2 and a half years ago. What I love about DMB is the sensuality of their music, the poignant lyrics that are just beyond loving but sexy in a very passionate way. Crush is such a light song of heavy love. I’m sure everyone has felt this way before. It’s one of my favorite songs of all time. Chef sheds a tear every time he hears this song because now that we have used it for our wedding onsite video, it reminds him so much of that day, that day when he waited for me at the alter, that day that made our union official in the eyes of God, that day that was so moving, and wondrous, and as crazy as knowing that the world is round.
This is the official DMB video, which is awesome. But I think our wedding video is just as awesome.
Crazy, how it, feels tonight.
Crazy, how you, make it all alright love.
You crush me, with the, things you do,
I do, for you, anything too oh.
Sitting, smoking, feeling high.
And in this, moment, ah, it feels so right.
Lovely lady, I am at your feet, oh, God I want you so badly.
And I wonder this could tomorrow be so wondrous as you there sleeping.
Let’s go, drive till, the morning comes.
And watch the, sunrise, and fill our souls up.
Well drink some, wine til, we get drunk, yes…
It’s crazy, I’m thinking, just knowing that the world is round.
I’m here I’m dancing on the ground.
Am I right side up or upside down, and is this real, or am I dreaming?
Lovely lady, let me drink you, please, I won’t spill a, drop no, I promise you.
Lying under this spell you cast on me.
Each moment the more, I, love, you. crush me, come on. oh, yes.
It’s crazy I’m thinking, just knowing that the world is round.
I’m here I’m dancing on the ground.
Am I right side up or upside down?
Is this real, oh lord, or am I dreaming?
Lovely lady, I will treat you sweetly, adore you, I mean, you crush me.
Oh it’s times like these when my faith I feel.
I know, how, I, love, you. come on, come on, baby.
It’s crazy, I’m thinking just as long as you’re around.
I’m here I’ll be dancing on the ground.
Am I right side up or upside down?
To each other, well be facing.
My love, my love, well beat back the pain weve found.
You know, I mean to tell you all the things I’ve been thinking, deep inside my
Friend.
With each moment the more I love you. Crush me, come on, baby.
So much you have, given love, that I would give you back again and again.
Oh, the love, many now hold you but please, please, just let me, always
