Mommy Adventures: Staycation
So, we have survived another school year. It is summer, alright, but I will have to keep daydreaming about those cheap ayia napa holidays for now. Um and I have a full plate of [migraine-inducing] things to do for the next couple of weeks that we need all the resources – time, money and energy – we have to get them all done. It is going to a stretch. Wish us luck!
But, if you are a parent, you will know that children just do not hang around and wait for things to happen. They constantly need to do something creative and productive, or else it is going to be a crazy, whiny house! Since it is all about staycation for us, I have to constantly think of things that we can do (or at least things that I can make them do) everyday while they are on their summer break. I would not want their brilliant minds to earn dust, would I?
I have been coming up with ideas, and they have successfully covered the last three weeks. Here is what I have had made my kids do since vacation started:
Got down on a thousand-piece puzzle.
Started a Word of the Day challenge.
Ordered some more books for their summer reading.
Got active with Kinect at B’s.
Kept us from getting bored with some board games.
Anyway, I have tons of things to do in the next couple of days. Anybody has more suggestions for staycation activities?

I like that Word of the Day challenge! I’ll probably start that when Mia can read already. Or maybe a picture/concept challenge! =)
[...] But, NO!!! They woke up, not as early as on a school day, but early enough for a summer morning (but that could have been due to sleeping early the night before as they wore their energy out at C's last day of school swimming party). Right after breakfast, they were already badgering me and Ken for things they can do. Because we didn't think we'd be able to go on a beach trip the way we have always done so every summer in the Philippines, I was equipped with things I that can have them do to keep their minds active during the summer.
