Mommy Adventures: Baby Essentials

Two words: Baby blanket. Make that blankets. Yep, my kids are waaaay too big to be called babies, but if there are baby essentials I still have (and make them use) they’re their old baby blankets!

Um, the kids and I have moved so many times back in the Philippines before finally going through the international move, and in the process, we have gotten rid of (or lost) a lot of our children’s stuff: toys, feeding bottles, teethers, rattles…you name it! Most of their baby clothes, I’ve given away to my nephew and friends who have kids younger than mine, or sold in garage sales. However, I seem to hold on to their baby blankets!

I don’t know why, but seeing them snuggled in it just reminds me of how tiny they used to be. Most of the baby boy blankets that the now 8-year-old Captain Awesome used to have are already worn out, so Um decided to leave them at his parents’ house in the Philippines. I wonder if my MIL will keep them or give them away. What we still get to use now are Little HRH’s old baby girl blankets. Most of them still look brand new. The fleece blankets served us a world of good this winter. Even the winter newbie, 6-foot-tall Um forced the fleece blanket issue on him to keep himself warm. Not that he have to, though, we have so many that he used three blankets (over the comforter staple) when we sleep.
