Le Critique: Kitchen Toys: Aerolatte
Before I begin, I think I need a name for my husband because too much use of ‘my husband’ is not quite pleasing on an essay. So, we shall call him Chef, which is one of the many things that he is.
Anyway, since Chef, who was my then boyfriend, moved in with me, we started filling up our one bedroom apartment with things that we really liked so that if and when we do move into a house, we won’t have to replace small appliances, lamps, picture frames, etc because we didn’t buy our first choice to begin with. So, even if we’re cramped in our 800-sq.ft. apartment, we have bought a good number of kitchen gadgets that will be perfect in our new home.
One of my recent favorites is this Aerolatte that I got from Crate and Barrel for only $19.99.
We have invested in a very nice cappuccino machine but much to our dismay, neither I nor Chef perfected the art of foam making with the steam. Hence, Aerolatte. With this, I am able to make foam so thick and with the perfect stiffness for that perfect cup of latte. Or, it’s also perfect to mix those powdered drinks in one homogenous mixture free of chunks.
I was told Sur La Table carries a tool like this for $60. I have not seen it so I don’t know what that $40 difference may be for other than the fact that Sur La Table’s is stainless steel.
