Insurance Mania
I am beyond ecstatic to report that this is my first blog entry using Chef’s iPad. It’s 1AM, Chef is snoring next to me, but here I am doing something productive. This is just the tool I need especially since with my iPhone4, it’s been quite an effort to go to my desk actually because about 60% of what I do on the computer, I’ve been able to do on my phone. With the iPad, I’ll really only need to go to my desk for hardcore Photoshopping, my monthly home budgeting on Excel, and printing since I don’t have a Bluetooth printer.
Computers, phones… TV, blu-ray player, cameras… Car, house, self… Fridge, washer, dryer… Window shades, blinds… What all of these have in common in my life is that all these have some protection of some sort. At the time of purchase, Chef and I just automatically add on any kind of protection that can be added. Of course, with the cars and house, and our own lives, that’s a given. But, am I going overboard with insuring my stuff? Now, with our newest tech purchase, would an iPad insurance be in order?
Answer is most likely. The only reason why it wasn’t added automatically when this iPad was purchased is because it was bought at Verizon. But I know once Chef gets to it, he’ll get the protection plan too. I haven’t really tallied how much exactly do we spend on insuring and protecting our stuff. Maybe I should and I’ll get an outrageous number that will make me rethink this habit. For all I know it would be enough to get more stuff.
I wonder if this is what most people do anyway. Do we all fall into the trap of protection plans? One thing is for sure. There have been a number of times that I have benefited from these plans, whether through placements or extensive repairs. So, as long as I keep finding myself in such situations, I will keep allowing myself to fall into these traps.
