IMHO: Self-Awareness
It’s very disheartening to learn of (or watch) someone turn into something, well, unpleasant. For a lack of a better word. Try as we may to call it out – by compassionate and constructive manner, or by tough love – we can only do so much. An integral part of any intervention is the subject’s acknowledgement of the wrong s/he is doing. But in today’s world, where nothing is no longer black nor white, and one points a finger to a specific person or event in his/her life for his/her attitude, everybody holds an instant absolution.
I’m obviously not the most ideal person to blog about character and such. I’m still very much a work in progress. One thing I’m thankful for, for my “in transition period” (that’s how you politically-correctly put it, right?), is the time I have pondering on things that I need to improve myself on. Unfortunately, though, the process highlights the things that make me lose faith in humanity.
I’m greatly appalled by people’s lack of gratitude for the blessings that the Lord has showered them. Yes, to each his own. And, as I have posted as a Facebook status message recently, We can never judge the lives of others, because each person knows only their own pain and renunciation. It´s one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but it´s another to think that yours is the only path. That, my friend, is from none other than the brilliant, Paulo Coelho. Only we know what we need to be able to fulfill our own definition of a well-lived life. But excess is excess. And, greed is a capital sin, but I won’t preach on this Catholic teaching for I’m not worthy to.
Our Twitter bio says, We change. We evolve. And hopefully in that process, we become what our Maker intended us to be. Maybe we should all remind ourselves every once in a while to take a step back and ask ourselves, “Am I the “me” (or at least on the road to becoming the “me”) which God has created me for?”
Funny…I originally intended to do just a Music and Lyrics post related to the subject.
