Le Critique: Homemaker’s Toys: LG Washer/Dryer
Lovely ladies, allow me to be a homemaker a bit, because believe me, I wish I could have read something like this when we were shopping for our major appliances.
I hate doing laundry. And, I’m bad at it. As a lot of people from the Philippines, I did not bother about laundry because in the way of life over there, we had help for doing the household chores (So, I don’t know if our readers from Manila would find any value to this review as you probably have maids anyway. Daya!!
). To this day, I still ruin my clothes. Which is why Chef is the one who sorts them. And I toss it in the washer. Then he sorts them again before I put them in the dryer because apparently there are just some materials that shouldn’t go in there, and I just can’t get which ones. Believe me, it’s the only science that I detest.
Anyway, back to the point of this entry. A review of our new LG Washer and Dryer.
These babies are front loaders reminiscent of our stay in Oakwood Joy-Nostalg in Ortigas, Philippines with the many buttons and functions. Thankfully, my washer and dryer is in English, and I actually know how to open it. (When we were in Oakwood, I did laundry just to say I did laundry in the kitchen, but man oh man, that washer/dryer combo there kicked my usually techy ass as I managed to get it too hot that it wouldn’t allow me to open the door, and caused the whole building’s power to trip.)
The washer has your basic functions with the types of clothes, but with additional “SANITIZE” and “HAND-WASH” cycles. Oh, believe me I need that hand-wash cycle. I dread it when Chef would pick out clothes that can’t go in the washer. I pretty much would have to forget that piece because I probably won’t wash it, until I remember to bring it to my mom’s house. As with all front load washers, you have all the compartments for the detergent, bleach and fabric softener. You add it all before you begin and it’ll just know when to add it during the cycle. This uses less than 10 gallons of water, compared to the 40 gallons of top loading washers.
The dryer has a stainless steel interior which is great because it’s a good heat conductor. So, it gets hot so fast and stays hot that you don’t have to be running it that long. It only took 10 minutes for us to complete a medium load. What I love the most is the Wrinkle Free button because we tend to leave our clothes in the dryer until we start looking for a specific piece. After days, you take it out, clothes are not crumpled. It also has this “Sensor Dry” feature that if your load is dry before the set time, it will stop; and likewise, will add more minutes if the load is still a bit wet. Love it.
These were installed the same day my friend posted on his FB that he just ran his new Samsung front load washers, and it vibrated so much that it moved a foot. I was worried. Some people told me that with their laundry rooms being in the second floor, they actually feel the house shake – and this is common as I have found on the Internet. So, I’m so happy of LG’s True Balance Anti-Vibration System. Plus, it’s silent. Seriously, you wouldn’t even know that it’s running. Oh, and they’re energy efficient. The washer qualifies for the PG&E and California rebates (no dryer does).
When they’re done, they play a little musical alert.
Of course, I’m still Miss Fashion over Function, so I got myself these hot cherry twins.
