First Time Home-Buying: The Appraisal and The Floor!

After getting the email from my loan officer early last week the she had ordered the appraisal of the home we intend to purchase, I thought, yes, we’ll know for sure when we’re moving within the week. Well, the week came and went with no news. To make it go faster just in my head, I decided not to think about it.

Today was a good day for developments regarding this home-buying process. I got an email of the appraisal report. I finally got to see what an appraisal report looked like! And, it’s nice to see that we already made $1000 equity. The appraiser compared our property with 5 other houses, but really with only one that was the exact same model. I found it interesting how with one of the houses our property was compared to, having a 3rd car garage actaully decreased the value of the home.

With all this excitement, we decided to go visit the site again and to even excite us even more, some workers were actually installing the carpet today! Woohoo! And, the tile upgrade we splurged on for the kitchen, nook and entry looked fabulous. Can’t wait to move in! But still, there’s so much to do and so much to learn!
