Blinks: One Year Ago
One year ago from today, Chef and I legalized our commitment to each other and our relationship. Our civil wedding was held in the beautiful San Francisco City Hall. It was humble compared to the church wedding that we had three months later. We got up, made breakfast, I did my own hair and make-up, and our mini photoshoot of our clothes, our rings, and my bouquet. We drove ourselves and met our families in the city hall. We got in line and got a number. We were couple B207 for that day. I remember a month before that, when we were applying for our marriage license, we sat on the bench and asked each other, “we’re sure right, because this is IT?” We were certain.
Under the domed arch, atop the grand stairway of a magnificent building, a judge presided over our 10-minute ceremony. And that was the beginning of the rest of our lives, at least by law.
