Blinks: Frozen Milk + Cream + Sugar
taken: December 2008, Manila, Philippines
It’s a tradition we, strangebyday and I, have: to shop for Christmas gifts together before all the holiday party, lunch/dinner or whatever invitations come pouring. In the process, we try out new restaurants in the mall. Five Cows is a semi hole-in-the-wall kind of dining place located at TriNoma, a mall just five minutes or so away from where I used to live in the Philippines. You’d expect it to be all dairy and barn-ish, but they do serve pasta that is to die for! It might be kind of ironic for it to be a not-so-popular restaurant being located in a mall. The truth is, this mall, which is generously blessed with high end retail stores and dining options, is ironically often populated by the class C crowd due to its easy access to all sorts of public transportation. They’re there. Gawking. Not shopping or eating. Just gawking.
Nonetheless, it’s a mall I loved going to because, as I’ve mentioned, of the shops, the restaurants and the distance from my house.
After a sumptuous lunch, strangebyday and I decided to share this dessert. I don’t even remember what flavor it was. By the looks of it, it seemed like cookies and cream. As a matter of fact, I don’t remember what kind of pasta I ordered. What I do remember is the lovely December afternoon with one of the closest and dependable people I have in my life. Chitchats, laughs, chitchats, laughs…all in between spoonfuls of this delightfully sinful dessert.
