Autumn in New York… Or Winter Perhaps
I got a message from a friend who lives in New York, asking for my address because she is getting ready to send out her wedding invitations. I do not know yet if I will go, because in truth we are not that close for me to fly to the other side of the country for her wedding. But baby, I love weddings, and I truly heart NY. So now, this has gotten me wanderlusting for New York.
I’ve been to New York in the spring and in the end of the autumn season and just the beginning of winter. Last time I was there, the tree at the Rockefeller center was already up, and I even had a chance to go ice skating with my best friend. But, I have never seen a snowy New York. I am not sure if I would be able to handle it, as I basically have to take a 3-hour trip to the mountains here in California. But I think that is something I would like to experience one day. I do not know why Chef and I haven’t planned any New York holidays yet. He’s never been. So it is quite intriguing why New York has not been at the top of our vacation list. I guess Europe trumps New York for us.
We’re trying to do this thing of going somewhere new every New Year. Of course, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve show in New York makes it the place to be to wait for the ball to drop. I’m not sure if I’m actually brave enough to be there but I have always been curious about the experience. My friend was there a few years ago and she said they were at the same spot for hours until one of her siblings had to pee and they had to leave before the ball dropped. Yikes. That is actually what I fear. Nonetheless, New York is on our list to visit as a couple. Maybe it’s time I should bump it up.
