2 Minutes

The thing I love about the kind of out of town trips that Um, the kids and I go to is that we’re pulled away from civilization. No phone signals, no wifi, no cable TV. We do carry our iPods with us, though. We’re a family of music junkies.

Once again, irony humors me as this thing that I love left me out. Well, I’m not exactly upset. I’m glad that Um and the kids are enjoying their time together in a “remote location”, close to nature and enjoying the pristine surroundings.

Today is the first day that I didn’t have my daily dose of early morning video call. I was iffy the whole day. Something surely was missing. I just resolved to the fact that it is Good Friday. Let’s call this my sacrifice.

Um and the kids won’t be back for another day. That means, I’ll be starting my Easter Sunday hearing their voices at 5am. What a great way to start fresh. I’m looking forward to it!

Before dinner tonight, though, my phone rang. It was Um!!! He and Little Princess went to the town’s market for their food for the day. Long distance charges suck, so we keep our calls short. Two minutes. I savored every second of it.

Captain Awesome was back at the resort, though. Sleeping. Oh, what I wouldn’t give to be with them right now.
